Vintage Saltwater Akoya Pearl Strand Necklace with Amethyst Beads & 9ct Gold Clasp
AUD $2,200A flattering multi-stone pearl strand, knotted, between princess and matinee lengths (65cm total) depending on the wearer. The Akoya pearls, cream in body colour with pink and silver overtones, come in varying teardrop, baroque and freeform shapes, with irregular surfaces that throw an impressive array of colour with the metallic sheen characteristic of saltwater pearls. The strand is interspersed with “stations” of button-shaped amethyst cabochons, punctuated with tiny gold “ball” beads on either end. Charming, peculiar, exhibits a certain je ne sais quoi.
The 9ct gold clasp is a box-and-tongue clasp, adorned with a Georgian-style motif featuring a deep, rich, oval-cut amethyst surrounded by a halo of round Akoya seed pearls. An exceptionally petite wearer (with a neck circumference under 34cm) may wear this necklace as a double strand. Stamped 9ct on the clasp.
