Stunning 9t gold antique opal pendant featuring an Australian black opal exhibiting excellent spectrum of colours of red, violet, yellow, and green.
Every opal is unique, but what makes this pendant more special? Introducing this antique opal pendant, circa 1900s Edwardian era, originally a lavaliere drop from a necklace, is now converted into a single pendant with a recently added bail that you can wear and stack with any chains. Opals are famous for their various play of colours but also known for their fragility, hence it is rare to see a more than 100-year-old opal still in such a good condition. It was definitely very well taken care of, and now it’s your chance to cherish and enjoy this beautiful piece.

Item Details
– Stone: 1 x Australian Natural Solid Black Opal “Doublet” (approx. 12mm x 9.5mm x 2.5mm, 1.6ct estimated). The definition of doublet opals is “attaching a thin slice of light colour opal, usually crystal or white opal, to a dark backing. This method is usually used to lower the cost and magnify the colours of the stone”. As you can see in the picture, this antique opal is not thin. Our guess is the jeweller back then added the black backing to this solid piece of opal, so it stays securely in the pendant. The opal is in excellent condition with a tiny hairline, shallow scratch to the surface, not really noticeable to the naked eye.
